Work Related Learning

Each student is considered an individual and their abilities and interests are taken into account.

Work Related Learning profiles are used as a framework for developing and describing work related learning for each student over the age of 11, but work related activities are planned into the curriculum for all students.

Work Related Learning St Roses School and Post 16

The Work Related Learning Plan reflects our approach to WRL across the curriculum, and Pathways 1, 2 and 3 identify the possible range of activities our students will be involved in:

Pathway 1 students who have a sensory based curriculum will have opportunities to experience different types of work e.g. enterprise, cookery, horticulture etc.

Pathway 2 students are students who may straddle the sensory and subject specific curriculum, and can engage in experiences and learning about activities and the world of work.

Pathway 3 students who are on a subject specific pathway and can learn about the skills required to engage in different types of community activities and the world of work.

Students in St Rose’s school do not have discrete work related learning lessons. Students in Post 16 engage in a curriculum that is tailored to develop independence and community engagement, and has increased opportunities to experience activities and work in the wider world.

We have linked with Change Now and Talentino to improve opportunities for internal and external work placements.

Our Careers Leader for school and Post 16 is Louise Harper and she can be contacted on admin@stroses.org.uk.
