St Rose’s School Celebrates Outstanding Section 48 Inspection, Praised for Its Exceptional Ethos and Deeply Rooted Community Spirit

St Rose’s School in Stroud is celebrating the outcome of its recent Section 48 Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) Inspection, receiving Outstanding in every category and earning high praise for its exceptional ethos, mission‑driven culture, and deeply embedded sense of community.

Inspectors highlighted that “St Rose’s School lives its mission, values and ethos” through a commitment firmly rooted in the charism of the English Dominican Congregation of St Catherine of Siena. This mission is shared across the whole school community including leaders, governors, teachers, therapists, care staff, parents, and parish partners, who work together to meet the holistic needs of every student.

A Community Where Every Child Is Known, Valued and Loved

The report emphasised the school’s unwavering dedication to serving students with complex needs, noting that staff go “beyond the call of duty” to provide specialist care, education, and emotional support often extending this commitment into evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Students spoke openly about their love for the school, one remarking: “Jesus is kind and so we must be kind too,” a reflection of the inclusive, nurturing culture at the heart of school life. Inspectors observed exemplary behaviour, deep mutual respect, and a strong understanding among students of what it means to be part of a loving, faith-filled community.

Outstanding Catholic Life, Religious Education and Collective Worship

The school achieved the highest possible grade—Outstanding (1)—in all three key areas, Catholic Life & Mission, Religious Education and Collective Worship.

Inspectors highlighted the calm, reflective atmosphere within the school’s chapel and outdoor prayer spaces, where students engage with scripture and liturgy in ways tailored to their individual needs. One student beautifully summarised their learning during Lent, saying: “He did this for us.”

A Model of Partnership and Inclusion

The report commended St Rose’s exceptional relationships with parents, local parishes, health partners and the wider community. Parents described the school as “family,” recognising the expertise and heartfelt dedication that supports their children’s growth and independence.

The leadership team was recognised for modelling the school’s mission at every level, supported by faith-filled and highly skilled governors and trustees.
