Care

We are proud of the exceptional quality of care we provide for all of our students. Their health and well-being is paramount and we believe that young people make the greatest progress with their learning and development in an environment where they feel safe and trust the people who look after them.

Our dedicated nursing team are fully qualified and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). They have extensive experience and specialist knowledge of the care required by our students.

At St Rose’s we care for children and students with both congenital and acquired disabilities many of whom have complex health needs.

Nursing care is available every day and overnight to meet the complex medical needs of all the young people who attend St Rose’s.

Nursing staff ensure that day-to-day health requirements are met, and offer advice, support and guidance regarding health and wellbeing to our students and their families. Individual health care plans are developed, monitored and updated to ensure that each young person receives the care they need. In providing that care, we are able to draw upon the expertise of our on-site therapy teams. These include Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech and Language therapists and a Massage therapist.

Due to the complex nature of our students health needs many of them are prescribed a large number of medicines. All students requiring medication have an individual medicine administration record (MAR). Medicines are only administered by a member of the nursing team or a senior care team member who has undertaken a medicine administration course as well as regular updates from the nursing team.

We facilitate health-related clinics at St Rose’s to ensure we are involved in the on-going care of each student. These include clinics run by Consultant Paediatricians, Dieticians, Dentists and Orthotists.

The nursing team are fully involved with assessments required by other agencies including the Continuing Health Care (CHC) funding process.
