The NASS 2018 Breaking Barriers Award has been won by our school orchestra for the extraordinary work that young people and staff have been involved in for the last two years. “ The orchestra is going from strength to strength” says Music Teacher Rachel Moody. “We now have 11 young people using accessible software called Clarion.”
This software and the resources associated with it have been developed by Open Orchestras, a Bristol Based Charity. Using this cutting edge technology, the orchestra members are able to access coloured shapes on the screen of their devices which are essentially musical notes and together they have been working hard to perform their own pieces of music based on the works of composers such as Beethoven, Holst and Pachelbel.
