Student Living

Residential Facilities

St Martin’s provides college accommodation in two bungalows.  Every student has their own room, some with en-suite facilities, and overhead hoisting is available for those who need it.

Being away from home is a big challenge and we strive to create an environment that reassures students by working closely with their families and carers prior to them staying. They are confident that their needs will be met in a family-orientated setting, where everyone is valued.

Residential students and their families have the added reassurance of 24 hour nursing support during the week and overnight at weekends.

The dedicated, caring and highly-trained staff at St Martin’s work closely together, endeavouring to provide new activities and opportunities to inspire the students to achieve the optimum level of participation and independence. They are encouraged to take responsibility and be involved in their care programmes at whatever level is appropriate to them.  We provide person-centred programmes where individual needs guide the specialist support the students receive.

We aim to provide the residential experience most suitable to the independent students and we offer single overnights, short breaks, weekly boarding through to the fortnightly residential where students are able to visit their homes every other weekend and keep their links with their home authorities and local communities.

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The dedicated team of care, therapy and education staff at St Rose’s and St Martin’s provide exceptional quality of care for its children and students.
The residential care at St. Martin’s, our post-19 centre, is inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) which is an independent body that monitors, inspects and regulates services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety. They publish their findings, including performance ratings, to help people choose care.
The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and they encourage care services to improve.

Our most recent CQC inspection report is available here.
